“Lucknow Celebrates Dr. P.K. Gupta’s Dual Dedication to Medicine and Environment

The city of Lucknow, along with its medical community, King George’s Medical College (KGMU) alumni, students, educators, and social organizations, proudly congratulates Dr. P.K. Gupta, a distinguished 1981 KGMU alumnus and proprietor of P.K. Pathology Lab near SGPGIMS Lucknow.

Dr. Gupta, a former President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Lucknow, is being recognized for his outstanding contributions to both medical practice and environmental conservation.

For the past 20 years, Dr. Gupta has led the “Rakhi Bandho” movement, promoting tree planting and protection. His simple yet powerful message, “Tie an environmental rakhi to a planted tree and pledge to protect it,” has inspired countless children across numerous schools, earning national and international recognition.

This initiative fosters a strong bond between young people and the natural world. Beyond his environmental advocacy, Dr. Gupta is a vocal advocate for healthy lifestyles, early disease detection, and community development. He uses various media platforms to promote these principles, aligning with the national vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (collective effort, inclusive growth). His work includes protecting plants and animals, organizing walkathons, and encouraging cycling for health.

Dr. Gupta’s leadership has inspired students in Lucknow and other Indian states to celebrate Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis to trees. This practice, rooted in the “Raksha Sutra Movement,” emphasizes the crucial relationship between people and nature. Students and teachers alike are pledging to protect existing trees, plant new ones, and acknowledge the importance of forests.

Dr. Gupta’s inspiring personality serves as a model for citizens throughout India.

The people of Lucknow and the KGMU community are immensely proud of his achievements.

Long live KGMU, long live Georgians !!”

Thanks
