Dr. Ali is Professor and in-charge of Chemical Pathology Section in Department of Pathology, KGMU, Lucknow. He is also appointed as a Quality Control Manager of Trauma Pathology Unit, OPD Pathology and SCR Lab. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh (UP). His current area of research interests are coronary artery disease, diabetes, infectious diseases like tuberculosis and visceral leishmaniasis. He is elected as an executive member (2015-2017) of Indian Society of Atherosclerosis Research, India. First time in KGMU, he has started HPLC unit, serum protein electrophoresis/western blotting and Hb electrophoresis and few other immunoassays in Chemical Pathology, Dept. of Pathology. He is a member of Tender Committee, Laboratory Medicine Board, Bio-waste Management and Hospital Infection Control Programme in KGMU. He has received funding as a principal and co-investigator for more than 9 projects from DRDO, ICMR, and UPCST. Dr. Ali supervised more than 20 MD and 7 Ph.D as a guide or co-guide. He has also served as an observer/examiner for MBBS, MD/MS, BDS, DMLT examinations. He is actively engaged in collaborative research with renowned institutes like CDRI, IITR, CIMAP, NBRI and SGPGI, Lucknow. He is a member of several professional societies including European Atherosclerotic Society, Indian Society of Atherosclerosis Research, Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility, Indian Association of Pathologist and Microbiologist, Indian Academy of Biomedical Scientist and Indian Science Congress Association. He has organized an International Conference on Atherosclerosis (ISARCON) in 2014.He was selected for IFCC professional Scientific Exchange Program (Fellowship for three months duration January 2018-March 2018) visited University of Rome Tor Vergata, Rome, Italy. Under his supervision Chemical Pathology Lab was accredited in January 2018 by NABL (ISO 15189) as per scope of Clinical Biochemistry investigations. He was Awarded PA Kuroop Oration in the field of Basic Research in atherosclerosis by Indian society of atherosclerosis research in annual conference ISARCON 2018 at PJIPMER, Pondicherry. He is an editorial board member and ad-hoc reviewer of many peer reviewed journals. He has published more than 65 peer reviewed research papers, and published one book chapter.
In recognition of his services particularly in coordinating the clinical pathology services across the KGMU and state of Uttar Pradesh, and benefitted the society at large he was awarded UP RATNA award a state level award by all India Conference of Intellectual on 20th October 2019 at India international Centre New Delhi. Dr Wahid Ali has drafted detailed policy documents for up gradation pathology labs across the state of Uttar Pradesh in 2016. In the year 2020, Dr. Wahid Ali has been nominated as technical expert committee member for up gradation of pathology services in the state of Rajasthan based on policy documents of state of Uttar Pradesh
